Dr. Michael J. Reyes was born & raised in McAllen, TX and graduated high school in Brownsville, TX. During college he became a licensed paramedic while attending two universities concurrently. In 2004 he eventually graduated with Bachelors of Science degrees from the University of Texas San Antonio Honors College and the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. In 2009 he graduated with a medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. In 2015 Dr. Reyes completed his General Surgery residency at St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI where he served as an Advanced Trauma & Life Support Instructor.
His desire was to serve people in South Texas and be close to his parents so he has since made Corpus Christi, TX his home. While in Corpus Christi he has since served as a medical director and held leadership positions in various executive hospital committees.
Dr. Reyes is deeply passionate about Minimally Invasive General Surgery and the benefits it offers patients. Complex hernia repair is a field near and dear to his heart. Accordingly Dr. Reyes has made it his mission to advance the field and increase access to Robotic General & Acute Care Surgery in Corpus Christi, TX. Dr. Reyes is a partner with the Surgical Associates of Corpus Christi, LLP and a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Reyes is board certified with the American College of Surgeons.
